Time is often the biggest barrier in a solid meal plan and a healthy meal time experience. Here are a few tips and recipes to keep your plan and healthy meals on the fast track giving you fast vegetarian meals!

  • Substitute recipes for pre-made options. For example, if veggie burgers are on the menu, you can easily substitute frozen burgers. Frozen fruits and veggies are great time saving alternatives to fresh.  In the same way you can also substitute soups and stews for canned or packaged options.
  • Personalize your meal plan based on time constraints. If you'll have no time on Wednesday because of a soccer game or late meeting, substitute a more simple meal option for Wednesday and move the meal with a longer prep time to another evening.
  • Cook in advance. Try making time during the weekend or on a relatively free evening to make some items in advance, then freeze or refrigerate for quick preparation on the go.
  • Stick with the plan even if schedules vary. Sit-down dinners with the entire family every evening may not be obtainable. If possible, go ahead and make your meals as planned and encourage family members to heat up the leftovers when they've completed their other obligations.
